Welcome to Black Hills Herbs and
Aromatherapy located in the foothills of the Black Hills in Rapid City,
South Dakota (home of Mt. Rushmore).
I've
been studying and using herbs & essential oils since 1974.
Since
the early 1980's
I've used herbs and essential oils to
help deal with chronic pain and disease. I have degenerative bone
and disc disease, FMS, Myofascial Syndrome and I've had 3 back
surgeries.
As a Master Gardener, I was in
charge of our city’s Herb and Garlic Festival for two years. I now hold
workshops on herbs, and aromatherapy.
In 2005 I was certified as an 'Herbal Information Specialist' by the
American Botanical Council.
In business since 1996, we changed the
name from 'The Herb Cottage' in 2004. We then started using and selling
products made with Pure Therapeutic grade essential
oils, some of which are certified organic. I 'experimented' with different oils from different
companies, and, did some 'research' on different companies before deciding on
the oils I now use and sell.
My husband, Doug, and I are organic
gardeners. Our property has been certified by the National
Wildlife Federation as a Wildlife Habitat. Our property is a half
acre and includes the small home where Doug was born and raised. The majority of the property is planted with native trees,
shrubs and herb gardens. We also have 3 small ponds and a stream
connecting them together. It is a quiet, peaceful sanctuary to us and
to those who visit. We open the gardens, free to the public, from May
through September.
From experience,
both emotionally and physically, these products have helped me deal with
the pain and disease.
Emotionally, Aromatherapy helped me through the
years of taking care of our parents, who lived with us, until they
died. Aromatherapy also helped me deal with the emotional aspect of
living with chronic pain.
Physically, the products themselves help to relieve the pain. They don’t 'cure' the pain or disease, but my life is 100 percent
better because of them.
You might say I
have a ‘mission’ in life. To spread the word of how essential oils and
herbs can truly benefit and help us all!! |
